A New look for X2Media

I am happy to announce that X2Media has rolled out a new website (x2media.us) and if you have some time please take a look at it. It also raises the question of “just how important is it having a website?”

Here is a question we got from Steve,

“I know, I know, I am supposed to have a website. That said, as I have no plans to sell online, I just don't see the need for a site. My business has been around forever and we have done just fine without one. Am I wrong?”
My answer is I think you are, for reasons both large and small. Let me give you a couple of examples:

Example 1. A few days ago on a busy school night, my wife called and asked me to pick up some dinner on the way home. She mentioned a restaurant we like, even though we don't get to it often, and asked me to look up their menu online so we could figure out what to get.

Yet try as I might, I couldn't find their website. It finally dawned on me that they did not have one. But since we had not been there in quite a while and could not remember everything on their menu, we decided to get dinner from another place.

And that's why every business, even small ones, should have a website.

Example 2. We were approached by a potential client several months ago about developing a website, we submitted several concepts and we were positioned to get everything developed and have up online within 4 weeks. He had many other things come up and the website project kept getting put on the “back burner.” I kept reminding him about getting the project going and he kept putting it off.

One day about 5 months later we get a panic call from this client that he needed to get his website up and he needed it up and running that day!

It turned out that one of the key people that was employed by one of his biggest clients logged onto the internet searching for his company. He searched and could not find a website for his company, and then went back to his people and asked, “why are we doing so much business with a company that does not even have a website.” Not having a website had a major negative effect on his image and he was faced with he possibility of losing business from one of his major accounts.

The story does have a happy ending though, we scrambled and got him a site up and running that same day. We normally don’t like having to do things this way but we can when we have to.

My point is: Your website is your storefront, this is not the place to make shortcuts on your image. Many people do make decisions based on 1st impressions.

Your website should:
• Be uncomplicated and intuitive
• Have a professional and trustworthy image
• Have visual appeal
• Provide useful information
• Be safe and secure
• Load and operate quickly
• Provide easy navigation
• Have updates on a regular basis

Today, there is no reason for any business not to be on the online, and not just online, but online in a professional, powerful way. That way, when a customer wants to find your menu of products, they will.

If not, they'll go somewhere else.

If you need some help with your website plans, please give us a call for a free site analysis and consultation.

Thank you for your time and interest.
